Get the Big Picture First

Instead of diving into reading, zoom out to get the big picture of what you're about to read. It will save you time and confusion.

Principle 1: Start with the big picture

Scan titles, tables of content, chapter titles, and section titles. They will tell you what you're reading about.

Note main ideas in paragraphs.

Principle 2: Tired eyes make tired minds

Most of us read with our eyes. Concentration fades as soon as the eyes tire. Readers can condition their eyes to sustain longer concentration.
