Reading for Thoughts

Written works are simply someone's thoughts organized on media (e.g., paper or screen).

Principle 1: Questions open the mind; statements close the mind

Read actively. As you read, continuously ask what the author is trying to say.

Principle 2: Stop reading if you already understand

If you understand a main idea, supporting details become less important. Skip them.
